Great addition, Angela. Technology can help when it comes to weeding the good from the bad, but it still takes human engagement to build a stream of content. It's a critical investment in social capital for a news organization today, which is even more important than getting content for "free."

As someone with the title, "Managing Editor of User-Generated Content" for a news organization, I definitely agree with you about the cost. I do get a lot of quality content on the site and I am grateful for that. The more I engage, the better the quality. But we have to go through a lot of bad to get to the good and this is something that cannot be overlooked or undervalued.
