Part of the problem is that newsrooms are so strapped for resources that reporters don't have the time to develop hyper-local coverage.

The bar not only needs to be lowered on what is news, newsrooms need to change the format of some of the more traditional news stories.

The Arizona Replubic creates tables with information for City Council meetings. That saves reporters time and energy that can be spent on more in-depth coverage (or more hyperlocal).
